There are many ways to support yourself through the process of healing. Sometimes when your body is sick or in chronic pain, or you are feeling psychologically imbalanced, it is hard to remember to be positive and proactive around self-care. But your inner world (thoughts and feelings) creates your outer world (physical experience), so it is essential to fill yourself with positive thoughts and feelings. The easiest way to do this is to do what you love, understand the gifts within your disease, and feel all your feelings without making anyone else responsible for them.
Positivity is essential – take steps to make your life a positive experience. Just trying to be positive or think positively won't work, you have to fill yourself up with things that naturally make you feel positive. Do the things you love every day. This could simply be baking, hosting dinner parties, art, creating (anything!), socializing, gardening, exercise, singing, being in nature, watching movies, dancing, reading, having a bath, going swimming, playing with your children, making love, sunbathing, picnics, climbing a tree, or even relaxing and resting!
Instead of dwelling on the negative aspects of your reality, explore the gifts of your current situation. Can you be grateful and loving of your life's path within your experience of pain, disease or imbalance? What has it taught you? How have you changed through your healing journey? You may be perceiving your experience as negative, but that doesn't mean it is a negative experience. We go through periods of contraction and expansion constantly in life. Sometimes the periods of contraction are difficult, but they always lead to a shift, a new plateau of greater understanding and evolution.
Feel what you feel, but don't blame anyone else for how you feel. We are conditioned to repress our feelings, especially the supposed uncivilized ones like anger, sorrow, jealousy, and insecurity. However these feelings need to be consciously released for you to heal. To release them, or heal them, just feel them! Be aware of how they make your body feel - you will always notice physical sensations connected to everything you feel. Your body's cells react and respond to your state of mind. Feelings are just feelings, and they always pass. You might be able to pretend to others that you don't have negative thoughts and feelings, but you can't pretend to yourself. It is important not to blame other people for the way you are feeling - nobody makes you feel what you feel, you just feel it. Don’t try to numb it or run away from it. There is so much repression going on that people are having inappropriate explosive feelings all the time in the form of road rage, domestic violence, assaults, sexual abuse, cyber and real life bullying etc. These, along with personal realities of sickness and disease, are the gross and in-your-face affects of repression. I feel it is important that we all learn to express all of our feelings constructively and without judgment. When people around us are having negative thoughts and feelings, it affects all of us on a subtle energetic level. Directed at us or not, we all feel it. Anything that affects us on an energetic level most definitely affects us on a physical and psychological level. It is important to be aware of what you are projecting out there into the world. Not only does it create what you experience, but because we are all connected on a quantum energetic level, it creates our collective experience as well. Heal yourself through doing what you love, and heal the world!
