If you don't give a fuck about yourself and the planet you live on, who will?
There are two main things you simply must focus on to heal yourself and support your body in maintaining homeostasis. Homeostasis refers to the ability of the body to seek and maintain a condition of stability (ie health) within its internal environment when dealing with external changes (ie exposure to man-made toxins). If homeostasis is successful, life continues!
1) FOOD ESSENTIALS - eat these:
Organic and/or biodynamic fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and grains.
Meat, eggs, and dairy that are organic, grass-fed, free range, and/or biodynamic.
Whole foods (nothing processed).
Fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, sourdough breads etc).
Food that is grown by you, or in your province or country - as close to your home as possible.
Food that is in season.
Food that you cook from scratch for yourself, family, and friends.
Food preserved by you when it's in season for use throughout the year (canning, fermenting, dehydrating, freezing).
The benefits of eating this way are two-fold - you not only nurture and heal your body into a state of optimal health, you also support and heal the planet. Earth has an inherent ability to naturally produce everything we need to thrive, just as human beings have an inherent ability to maintain a constant state of perfect health.
2) LIFE ESSENTIALS - do these:
Only do what you love 100% of the time! Jobs, relationships, lifestyles, creative pursuits...
Stay present! Focus on the here and now. Thinking is almost always a negative experience and it is almost never about your present moment, so notice when you're doing it and STOP!
Don't be a victim. No matter what happened in your past, it is not happening right now. Choose what you want to experience from this moment forward, and take steps towards these goals daily.
Monitor and limit time spent on your social media accounts! You are never present when you are on social media, and you are never actively pursuing the things you love. You are just sitting there staring at a screen, missing out on your real life for hours, days and years.
Feel your feelings! Repressed emotion is a major source of disharmony and disease. Addictions result from repression (addictions = drugs, alcohol, stress, thinking, social media, food, money, consumerism, sex). Allowing yourself to feel what you are feeling, be it sorrow, grief, anger, despair or fear, can actually motivate you to make positive changes in your life. Also, keep in mind that the feeling will pass, they all do. It's much healthier to process your emotions and let them motivate you than to repress everything until you are physically or mentally ill.
Become autonomous within relationships! There is not a single person in the world who can make you happy or feel better about yourself. Become self-fulfilled by doing everything in the list above. When you no longer NEED a relationship, you'll be able to fully enjoy a loving relationship with yourself and others.
